No the ISS doesn't 'catch' you. The ISS is falling to awards the Earth too. It's just that for both you and the ISS your rate of fall is equally matched with the rate that the Earth's curvature 'falls' away from you.

50 years ago I actually had the opportunity to be a "test" subject on NASAs KC 135. Not only is it called the "Vomit Comet" you could smell a hint of vomit. And an interesting insight ... After the first person pukes. More will follow shortly. And ... You're in for the duration. You're committed to 25 or 30 evolutions. I was 19 ... Didn't throw up. I can do aerobatics, snap rolls, loops, spins, positive Gs to negative ... No problem. Put me on the teacups at Disney? I'm shot.
