Cool temporary nail hack! As a LNT, I understand!! I do my fills every 3 weeks as well. I went crazy on nail products my 1st year and made my fingers sore. Taught me a valuable lesson to not change them so often.

I do this! Acrylics first with normal polish then after 10-14 days I reshape them and then I do a gel polish mani which lasts another 10-14 days. If they need filling I will sometimes use a bit of hard gel polish too at the regrowth.

Hey Susie! I went to dollar tree the other day and saw a lot of nail products and files.. even a battery operated drill.. I’m not sure if you have that where you are or if you are able to order it online but I think that would be a cool video to see you play around with some things from there

That’s what I did last week before a business trip! Had done my fill two weeks before (with your acrylic and slow monomer). Now I’m getting close to that 4 week mark…full fill coming up soon!!

My nail instructor called these “buff outs”. She used to say “if you have to pick up nippers or your brush, it becomes a fill” this sentence always stuck with me & helped me with offering them to my clients. These “buff-outs” used to be my bread and butter in my early years. Back then fill ins were customarily done every 2 weeks but some customers could/would go longer between fills because their nails grew slower etc but they wouldn’t want to go that long with the same design or color because back then all we had was nail lacquer/polish and no matter how perfect your polish jobs were after a couple of weeks of typing or doing life stuff, nail polish was never as shiny as when they left your chair, polish really showed wear & tear back then before we even had really good top coats (the nail market has come such a long and fantastic way❤)so I offered buff outs as a quick & cost effective way to spruce them up. A little minor shaping, buffing block, new polish /design with a shiny new top coat and voilà perfection for the grand price of $10 or $12 dollars ! Because I was also fresh out of school, this helped me hone my polishing and shaping skills, this also let me see how my client’s sets were doing & helped me catch /correct any little noob mistakes. Eventually
I could knock them out in like 20/30 mins which increased my hourly average to about $50/ $60 per hour- for a 20 year old in 1999, excellent money. I had many clients that would do a full set, a buff out and a fill faithfully. Now 25 years later, I mainly teach & only take a handful of clients but if I were to take on a full schedule again, I would absolutely offer buff outs for both gel and acrylic nails ❤
This is such a great trick for all nail people to learn, even if you are just doing your own nails, buff outs are a great addition to your skills .💅🏻

When I used to have my nails gelled at a salon, I used go every three weeks and sometimes they'd be grown out at the cuticle after two weeks and I used to find a normal nail polish a close colour to the gel and just paint over them. It wasn't brilliant, but they looked okay if they weren't scrutinised! 😂

Am I stupid? Idk what you mean by mini-manicure. :/
I sure could use a quick way to get my nails ready bc currently they're all outgrown at different lenghts. I barely ever manage to do a full set in a timely manmer (as a self taught intermediate) , thanks to work and other responsibilities.

You're so lucky. My nails are 2.5 weeks and already 4mm, one is 5... I'd rather do everyone else's nails than my own. I know I can go like this for 2 more weeks (mine don't lift), but I don't like the look of them.
