Description: "Beti No. 1" is a 2000 Hindi comedy-drama directed by T. Rama Rao that highlights societal prejudices against women. The story revolves around Durga Devi (Aruna Irani), who, in her desire for a grandson, ignores the daughters of her two elder sons. Her youngest son, Bharat (Govinda), with the help of his father Dashrath (Prem Chopra), marries a poor girl, Priya (Rambha). When Priya becomes pregnant, they hope for a boy. On the day of delivery, Durga falls ill and doctors lose hope. Bharat has a daughter, and his friend Mulayam (Johnny Lever) has a son. Dashrath mistakenly takes the boy to Durga, thinking he is his grandson, which revives her. To save his mother from heartbreak, Bharat and MulayamтАЩs wife swap their children during the day. Eventually, Durga discovers the truth, realizes her mistake, and embraces her granddaughters. Govinda and Rambha's chemistry is fantastic, with Johnny Lever adding a comedic touch. Viju Shah's soundtrack is melodious, but the film received negative reviews and flopped at the box office.
