Did you know the "greenest" car sold in the United States isn't a Tesla or any other fully electric vehicle.
According to the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy, the 2024 Prius Prime SE is the greenest car you can purchase in the US. This plug-in hybrid offers stellar fuel economy and power, which helped it win the designation, along with its low relative weight, emissions, and estimated production pollution.
The company aims to look at the whole picture instead of just the vehicle's emissions, giving it an edge over EVs. Interestingly, the first Tesla on the list is the Model Y, and it only managed to reach 68th. If this isn't a testament to Toyota's environmental aspirations then we don't know what is.
