Gotta have a little room between the faces of each gear. Try to center your gears in the gearbox but keep the bevel a little loose so it can love when motor makes contact. Use calipers to measure the height of the shims stacked once you get them just right so you remember how much space needed to be filled. And common sense as we all know, screw the gearbox together when you check shim jobs.
