Well it may be that twitter has lots of dead accounts, while bluesky is a newly established and therefore more responsive community

Bluesky definitely won't get greedy and corporate-ified when it gets bigger, right? ...RIGHT?

Makes sense. The people who have a Bluesky account have one because they actually want to use it. I have an account on most of the major socials, but I never use them.

10 bucks says Bluesky turns into what Twitter used to be before Elon

It’s likely because bluesky is new so all the followers are going to be more active. Twitter’s been around for a while, so there’s tons of accounts that haven’t been active for years.

It's probably because the people who've just moved over to bluesky only have a few people they follow right now rather than the dozens or hundreds of people followed on twitter so they're more likely to actually see your stuff on bluesky.

Seeing people move over to a new platform and actually engage with others on it, and probably in a far more wholesome fashion than on Twitter, is so nice to see.

I think I'll have to make a BlueSky account... I do plan on doing art commissions eventually, along with self-promo to get my name out there, and I certainly won't be posting any of that on Twitter... So, BlueSky it is.

What helps a lot on bsky is the fact that you can filter interests, like on Tumblr. I told bluesky that I do not want to see any politics on my feed and it works beautifully. As long as nobody I follow posts anything political, I don't see anything political.

Creative person here who disagrees. To say "all people who care" use the brands I like, is tone deaf to modern times. Please don't deal in falsities, you're better than that.

My issue with bluesky was the amount of CP that was found on it within hours of it being active. And the silence from its community about it.

One of the absolutely awesome things about Bluesky is that the backend is completely open-source. If, say, you wanted to have an instance connect to Bluesky's official back end, and completely ignore posts that are advertisements, which you must legally mark posts as advertisements, there's nothing stopping you from doing that. Also, Just like Mastodon, there's nothing stopping you from just completely blocking specific instances, so if the main one gets infested with advertisements, you can just connect to whatever backends you want, within reason.

part of me wonders if its because bluesky as a platform is more engaged because its smaller and less diluted

It's because Bluesky doesn't yet have gimmick accounts to bog down your following page and most people also just aren't using their following page.

I've experienced this as well as an artist. Despite having literally ten times the followers on twitter vs. bluesky, my posts have been getting much more engagement on bsky.

Just wait until the advertisers find out and start botting Bluesky, then those engagement rations will change.

I like Bluesky for the simple fact that it doesn't grind up everything I post to fuel AI plagiarism engines.

It's always awesome seeing your posts pop up in my bluesky, hoping to start actively posting some of my game dev stuff
