Can this be made to work with an Ft-857? Not the 857d, but 857 model.

I'm still the fence as to getting an 891 or 857 for my first rig. I see a lot of 857's with the lines in the display, so I'm hesitant, and also wonder how much life they have left in them. Unless you think they are easily serviceable?
