So much makes sense to me now. I've struggled with acne all over my body and face. And I used to wonder why it was better when I used soaps from lush because, as I've been told about soaps, they're harsh and harbor bacteria, which is bad for the skin and worsens acne. But my acne was better then. And now I get why, cuz I was using good more expensive soaps that shouldn't be lumped in with the generic bar of soap!

I was diagnosed with ADD as a kid (though in recent years in my mid 30s I started to wonder if I'm also on the very high functioning end of the autism spectrum for a variety of reasons).
Either way, YES, I know that feeling, and I have absolutely DESPISED said sensory input of squeaky tight skin since I was a little kid!!! I loved water but hated it because the cheaper soap my stepfather bought from Wal-Mart ALWAYS had that effect. He said that meant you were clean, he liked it - it sounded like nonsense to me as little kid (~5-7). I've come across bars of soap and body wash that causes that over the years and I always toss them, but I didn't know WHY it happened UNTIL today, what the underlying mechanism was. Thank you for solving once of the most annoying sensory mysteries!!!!
