A study from Penn State found a correlation between consuming mushrooms and a lower risk of depression.

In reading this study, it seems there could be some confounding variables—like other lifestyle factors including exposure to nature and healthy foods—that may skew these results.

Nonetheless, there are several other studies that look at the therapeutic potential of specific types of mushrooms, like Lion’s mane mushrooms, in alleviating depression.

In psychedelic mushrooms, the compound psilocybin has demonstrated long-lasting depression relief and is now being adopted as a legalized treatment for depression.

There’s still so much we have to discover about mushrooms, but the mere fact that our diet can influence our mental health is an empowering and exciting one!

What’s your favorite mood-boosting meal?
