Why didn't Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip sleep in the same bedroom? It's all about their very different ideas of cosiness. Philip adored all sorts of household appliances and gadgets, while Elizabeth couldn't stand them. After much hesitation, she accepted the hoover, but only if the old condition for cleaning the royal chambers was met: the maid must move with her back to the front so that her shoes did not leave marks on the carpets. Even after the invention of electric kettles, the Queen used to boil water for tea on the cooker, which infuriated Philip. After all, Philip stole and electrified her favourite silver teapot without asking. by the way, the Queen drank tea barely warm, with milk, without sugar. And she almost always broke her diet, allowing herself to nibble on a biscuit before breakfast.

My grandparents had their own suites of rooms. It was normal. They still had numerous children.

It was nothing to do with coziness. It was the norm for the upper classes not to share bedrooms.

There's no reason why people sleep in separate bedrooms The whole thing is if they have separate bedrooms there's more comfortable you can do what you want you can read all night or whatever most people with monies do this too

What claptrap! HM was woken each morning with a cup of tea and a couple of plain biscuits, they were part of her regular diet. And it was (and still is) very usual for the aristocracy to have separate bedrooms. (Doesn't mean they necessarily slept in separate beds!)

Because servants. She would have a ladies maid, he would have a valet perhaps. Could get awkward for the maid and valet... He electrified her favorite teapot? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Actually they did sleep together in a large fluffy bed. Unless he or she were not feeling well. Or just needed a nights alone sleep. Or were not in the same town.

The idea is for The Monarch to relax and focus on The State Responsibilities thrusted upon The Crown. That's my humble submission. God bless Our Dearly Beloved Queen Mother and Grand Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, HRM, Beautiful Queen Elizabeth II, her Beloved Husband, Prince Philip from their Heavenly realms and all the Wonderful Members of The Royal Families in The Wonderful Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
