If i were to try to salvage this comic id have paul actually be a bad guy and make peter look like the bad guy but his plan falls short because of spideys sheer good morality and have the avengers findout about pauls plan and it turns out all the years that spidey was away from MJ was paul lying and having brainwashedMJ, and the kids are clones from MJ and Pauls DNA. Than you can have Peter take a back seat on his morality to get back at paul but reign himself back in before he kills paul. Then after its all said and done, Peter keeps the kids at MJ's request so he can have a family
