How This Man Used A Dumb Government Program to Make $3,000 In One Weekend - How Money Works #shorts

A Houston resident just made $3,000 by cleverly using a 3D printer to take advantage of a gun buyback event.

In an effort to get more firearms off the streets the government set up a no questions asked buyback program where people could turn in their guns for a reward of between $50 and $200.

A clever local saw this opportunity and 3D printed 200 so called ghost guns and then traded them in for a healthy profit. To make matters worse he posted about his exploits on social media which caused other opportunistic printing enthusiast to join in and also turn in plastic guns for cash.

In all the program cost over a million dollars and was successful in removing about 200 pounds of 3D printing filament from the streets of Houston.

The mastermind of this scheme who wanted to remain anonymous said he didn’t do it for the money, but rather to demonstrate just how silly the program was to begin with.

You missed my favorite part about this. Houston banned the sale of 3D printed firearms from future buybacks because of this.

50-200$ for any gun is a wild underestimation

“They may need $50 for whatever reason.” That is a drug habit deal.

Someone did this in Baltimore with “high capacity” mags. The city was paying $30 per mag. And someone was buying $10 AR mags and selling them for a profit.

Bro, not even 50$ for a gun? I would rather bury it in my backyard that hand it in for such an insulting ammount.

This gives off crazy vibes just by the guy saying "yeah 50 dollars, because they might need 50 dollars for whatever reason." This is crazy talk.

I loved how after the event, the city still tried to save face after they, and everyone knew they got played, by saying they took all those 3d printed ones "off the streets"

Someone did this with DIAS and they tried to get him to admit that he printed them. He was like "You said no questions asked so I want my money"

Most gun buybacks are less than $200. Most guns they want to buy back are a minimum of $1000 to as much as $5000. He did it as a protest

That would be hilarious if a weapon trader set up a tent right next to them offering $100 per each
