For another side of this situation; I was raised super secular and after I became an archaeologist (no biblical training whatsoever), my family kept wanting me to do research on biblical history so I could agree with them on how wrong the historical recordings in there are. After I began researching it from all angles, I eventually converted. Family hates it but oh well. LOTS of misinformation about archaeological theories and methods out there (yes, from both sides of the aisle). If you’re interested, I’d love to chat more.

The Jesus Cult by Robert Connor is a logical presentation of how much in the gospels is inaccurate according to history, Jewish customs, Roman law, science, etc. Very helpful.
