Don't really care if it's fake or not, but you will need an inverter to pump out 110V A.C. (or 220V in Europe/Asia etc). Also, to do it right - batteries should be used to store electricity. It IS definitely possible for this setup to work with those components added on.

Seems simple enough. Looks like an alternator with a fan blade instead of a belt. Plug a fan into it and point it directly at the blades for wind protection.

All the motors he's using are generally used with AC but can also be used with DC. This indicates that a battery is hidden because induction AC motors which he isn't using can't work with DC. Another indicator is how slow the motors are spinning and you don't hear a 50hz or 60hz hum. The batteries are most likely located in the base of the fan because he never showed the underside and there are clearly wire coming out from the top it.

While this appears to be faked, the principle is correct. Any electric motor will generate electricity if you power it mechanically. You can even use the power cord as a supply line
