You're right. Unfortunately politicians look at technology as something that saves them and they don't understand that everything has gone online, "encryption" and privacy is becoming something that "we don't talk about", rather than freedom to opt out that has to be essential. Laws for cookies is one of the dumbest ones. Somehow loading 1 page on the internet signs you up for tracking and sharing across 200 services even if you reject all. Even "share" buttons are scripted with "whitelisted" malware to track what pages you load independently even though we copy links rather than use them. Nevermind your phone and computers just freely sending your usage for "improved experience". Any guy working with computers knows that this statement should've been made at least 15 years ago and taken seriously. Today tech companies have data economies, nevermind privacy.

Compartmentalization and knowing how to do proper cold storage is key... And I don't mean just crypto, I mean for all of your accounts online.
I keep my banking separate from my daily accounts and phone. And I keep my 2 factor cold just like my keys.
Connecting all of your accounts together and relying on 3rd parties to keep things secure is a recipe for eventually getting hacked.

Business entities will be hearing my demand for compensation or see me or see me not but Iβll allow them to send me my money for no shows at that court hearing small claims.π
