In 2020, Avast was acquired by NortonLifeLock, which has a better reputation for privacy. However, Avast's history of data collection has raised concerns about whether or not NortonLifeLock will be able to protect user privacy.

If you're looking for an antivirus program that doesn't collect or sell user data, there are a few good options available. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Bitdefender Antivirus Free are both good choices.
