Thank you for the tips! My mom and I own a cabin in Colorado and for years I have naively run without being prepared to encounter bears. I have come across bears and have been very fortunate to not have had any problems, but I know that's wise to just hope for the best. So thanks again!

Great tips. Most animals (even snakes and spiders in Australia but NOT crocs) don't want to be disturbed. They'll only attack if they're startled and threatened. Unless they're really hungry, of course. (NEVER get close to a crocodile!)

I had a big bear and a smaller bear (no idea what type) cross my hiking path in Japan. After that I put some music on to be a little louder in my movements.
Glad to hear I did something that people who live around bears do.

I feel this way about black bears. I feel like they are so very uninterested in anything except whatever they are currently eating. But since I have zero experience with Brown bears, I suppose I am overly fearful.
