Here at Japa Suites in Ubud, Bali there can be a no more serene setting on earth.
Are you living the life of your dreams?
Do you have a clear vision in your mind of where you want to be and how you would love to spend each day?
This is a scene right out of my childhood dreams.
I knew that I wanted to be in a place with an endless summer where I could swim and enjoy my favorite sports every day.
Where I would be surrounded by nature and wildlife with a peaceful loving culture of people who are content getting the most enjoyment out of everyday.
After being born in Los Angeles and growing up in the suburbs, I shared many wonderful adventures in nature my family on our weekends and vacations but I knew there must be more enjoyable places outside the concrete jungle of competition and consumerism of people devoted to accumulating possessions and pursuing prestige.
My search for shangri-la led me for decades to many wonderful locations including Santa Cruz, Joshua Tree, Hanalei, Kauai and eventually to Nevada city, in the foothills of the grand Sierra Mountains. That charming historic golf rush town with lakes and rivers, regular festivals and a progressive community pursing similar goals of living in harmony with nature and each other, was very satisfying in many ways.
I thought I had reached my goal and settled into 4 acres in the tall pine forest where I raised my daughters, ran my home business, embellished the landscape with flowering shrubs and vines, including a gurgling stream leading to a Koi pond by the hot tub. I spent 40 years enjoying every aspect of that comfortable scene, until one day a dear friend said "you have to go to Ubud, Bali". I knew they would not steer me wrong, so I canceled reservations for Lake Atitlan, Guatemala, where many of us had gone each winter.
I had only been here 2 days when I realized, that this is the ultimate playground of my hearts desire. 💕
I decided to never return and that I would need nothing that I left behind.
That was just before the pandemic, so I was blessed with spending 2 years in Ubud without tourists. It was easily compared to Disneyland without lines, where all the wonderful attractions that drew 4 million tourists a year were available for me and my expat friends to enjoy at discontinued rates, as we helped keep the economy alive and were welcomed everywhere we went.
I continue to savor the sweetness of this tropical paradise like nowhere else in earth.
When you decide to join me, here are some of the highlights that will tempt you to never leave.
