The reason for slow construction of Kolkata Metro is lack of support from Mamata Banerjee and not Indian Railways. Kolkata Metro is the only metro in the country whose construction cost is borne 100% by the Central Government, while the cost of the metro being built in other cities is shared equally between the Centre and the State.
