It’s insane how quickly conditions can change! From Derby to Lennard Rest Area, the road was fully sealed and in great condition all the way to Manning Gorge Campground. But after a small amount of rain, the journey to Ellenbrae Station became quite the adventure. Despite being only 145km, the drive took over 4 1/2 hours. The road was very wet, causing slipping and skidding all over the place. The creeks were really flowing, and some of the water crossings were pretty deep!
When they say drive to the conditions, they mean it.
The roads are going to be very churned up, wet, and muddy. If you’re on the Gibb or planning to start it over the next week, take it easy!
