Cambodian tourists cause tension at Thai-Cambodian border sites in Surin

On Wednesday, the Thai military reported that around 30 Cambodian tourists were seen at Prasat Ta Kwai in Phanom Dong Rak District, Surin, taking pictures, recording videos and singing.

Thai military personnel intervened politely, explaining that such actions were not in line with previous agreements between the two nations.

Two days later, Today, a Cambodian man, accompanied by about 15 monks and a group of others, caused further tension at Prasat Ta Meun Thom, another historical site.

They positioned themselves at the GPS landmark and blocked the entrance to the temple, preventing Thai visitors from entering.

The group also crossed over the GPS marker, which is located on Thai territory.

Thai military personnel and local officials quickly responded, notifying the group to cease their actions and return to Cambodia.

It was reported that Cambodian military personnel stationed near the temple had been organising such provocations by gathering groups and monks to create tension at these sites.

This latest incident occurred while members of the Thai Senate’s Committee for the Protection and Reverence of the Monarchy were visiting the area to monitor border situations and offer support to Thai soldiers stationed along the border.
