Should have both lifted the tree from the base, where it was on his tail. They weren't "carefully" digging his tail out at all. He needs his tail to swim and not drown. He was badly injured... I'm glad he was freed from the tree but geez... that hurt just to watch.

God knows how long he was stuck in there. He is totally exhausted and very weak. Could hardly move. He needs rescue and help for him to recover.

Wish they could’ve gotten it to a wildlife rehab. It has pretty sunken in eyes and the lack of movement is pretty indicative of severe dehydration. Hopefully he was able to make his way to the water and recover. Either way, I’m glad this family helped him out of the trap so he had a chance.

He was so tired from trying to dig himself out. He needed a minute to regroup. May GOD bless you for helping this beaver.

They're clearly very kind people, but that tail was likely damaged, and the tail of animals is part of the spine. They needed to blanket him and get him to a rescue. But they were very kind in trying.

They were trying to help, but they were grinding his tail rocking that tree. Poor beaver!

Agree with comments saying he needed more help, but ultimately these people did the best thing they knew how to do at the time. A for effort. More good people being selflessly good please :)

Tree rocking might have worsened injury

There is no doubt that Mr Beaver has some damage to his tail. After the initial impact of the tree and subsequent time that the tail was being crushed, there's no way it's not injured.

Poor thing. He might have irreversibly damaged his tail. He needed to be looked at by a vet. Thank you for getting him loose.

The way they were twisting the tree and grinding the beavers tail into the ground, made my stomach churn.

These dudes have big hearts.. I can’t speak to their brains.

That beaver is in pain. Their tails are what helps them propel in the water, they use it to warn other animals of threats. I would like to see part 2. Surprised if it lived.

Poor beaver, I can't imagine how much pain it was in. Then to have the weight of that tree putting tremendous pressure while they were rocking it to and fro. Must have felt like they were drilling a hole in its tail. Definitely needed to be seen by a veterinarian immediately and then to a rehab facility.
