When I was in middle school I was put in gifted math and science. In the science class, they had this Atari or something similar with a game called Battle Chess. Whenever any player took a piece, it would take you to a separate screen in which the pieces would battle with one another. Each piece had a different ability that scaled with the power of the piece. Pawns had basic melee attacks, whereas the queen could shoot a projectile magic missile type thing. You could only take the piece if you won the battle. If you were the aggressor and lost, I think all that happened was the move was basically denied.

My proudest moment in chess was being able to understand what was going on a full ten minutes faster Hikaru (the Grandmaster) player could. Thank you 5D chess for that moment. (It is very fun imo, highly recommend if you’re okay with board games and know what the pieces in a regular game do.)

Ive played this and watch my friend play it. Its 5D chess with “multidimensional time travel” between boards; moves made several turns prior, become prevalent and game changing on another completely different board/timeline in the future of the game.
Its fucking wild.

I have it installed in my laptop so I play it when I'm traveling and have no wi-fi. It's super fun, very challenging and makes you think differently. Even the AI suprises you with very random moves that add a twist to games that you thought you had under control. For me it is a (e+13i²)/10 😂
