You can tell. Jesse was the heart of that show. He was the actual hero, while Walter was a false-protagonist; not the hero at all, but instead a lesson, a warning in what not to be.

Aaron Paul also did amazingly well in the episode of Black Mirror he was in, anyone who hasn't seen that, I highly recommend watching that episode. (Every episode of Black Mirror is a standalone thing, not a connected series.) Amazing actor, and I get the feeling he's only just getting started.

Me and my friends were very similar to Jesse when we were teens. That's ironically why I didn't feel any simpathy for him in earlier seasons. It was so annoying to see how he kept messing up all the time so stupidly but blaming others, his parents etc.
Even with Jane death I consider like just some silly girlfriend that they believe it's deep only cause they get high together...and her death is more of his and her fault than Walt's in my book.
Of course by later seasons Jesse matured a lot and proved to be the better person, one of the reasons I like breaking bad, Jesse's character got handled so well
