To me if you can't see i have makeup on (colorful usually), I just wouldn't bother. Why spend an hour painting with just two tones of the same colour?

This is exactly why i don't do "no makeup" makeup unless it takes me less than 5 minutes. Usually that's going to be sunscreen and a few spread out dabs of foundation and concealer, but very sheer, and then maybe lip gloss and mascara, and bronzer or contour multitasking as the eyeshadow.. but even then i didn't like doing no makeup makeup unless I'm going to a nice restaurant with family or I'm getting over being actually sick and want to simulate looking healthy.

Straight guy, and I love the popping look of most of the photos you used as a reference. I love when my wife does her makeup on date nights and feel sad so many people dislike it. I like how my wife’s makeup makes me focuses on her eyes as I feel I feel it makes me focus on her more. We have been together 20+ years and I love her so much.

Straight guy perspective:
I think one part of it could be not entirely being aware of all the schools of make up there are out there. And the labour that you describe that it takes to put that together all the time.
I have no idea if this is true, this is a top of my head guess. But maybe after seeing the what you describe as no-make standard for so long it became ingrained in a lot of guys visually as like some kind of level 0 standard. By that I mean, visually and culturally they sort of got trained to see that as some kind of default mode.
And as you describe, when women stray out of what might be perceived as the range of natural and the standard, it really stands out and freaks them out. And I think maybe what they perceive as variants and those outside their default all is right with world standard shakes them up and gets them on the defensive mode or reacting badly towards those people.
...that's one guess off the top of my head without any deep surveys or proof. 🤷♂

The reason I don’t wear make up is because I feel like I’m not being myself when I wear it and I don’t feel comfortable wearing it it just feels unnatural and I think I look better without it, but if I want to get dressed up or go somewhere like a family event or go to a party or a birthday party I don’t mind putting on a dress and heels do my hair but I never wear lip or foundation or anything like that maybe some blush or perfume, But the thing girls need to remember is you’re not getting dressed for someone else you should get dressed to make yourself feel good if it makes you confident do it and don’t care what people say about it unless they’re complimenting you

Ok but I actually wear like 3-7 products. And usually just skip it all together. It’s still fine to wear the no make up make up look if you like it!

I've been trying to like my face more I only wear eye makeup and nothing else. I have my brows dyed and shaped if my lashes were darker I would feel better. Been working on myself for years so when I see myself in a mirror I don't hate myself

When I was 36 I dumped makeup - I didn't wear it outside of work & I decided I didn't want to wear it at work. That was 24 yrs ago - Oh the scandal 😂 !
