Did you know that shipwrecks act as artificial reefs, providing a heaven for marine life? 🌿 Unfortunately, these rich areas attract fishing fleets that often lose their nets while trying to fish close to the wrecks. Efforts to recover these nets at full engine power damage the historical structures, sometimes causing entire sections to collapse. ⚠️

Fishing nets cover the wrecks like a thick carpet, obstructing historians and archaeologists from:

Understanding the true shape of the boat 🔍🚤
Identifying the vessel 🛳️❓
Accessing internal parts to see what the ships carried and uncovering key objects 🗝️📦

The massive weight of accumulated nets can also cause structural collapses. By removing ghost nets, we save marine life and preserve the integrity of these shipwrecks, allowing for their documentation and exploration. 🐋🛠️📜
