I think he is talking about John Nicholson. That man was really a very brutal but also a very brave and tough military commander. He had a god like following among pashtuns. During 1857 revolt he attacked delhi with his pashtuns soldiers and those pasthuns used to hate Hindus, so he and his soldiers did dealt brutally with the revolutionaries.

We should be stoic and objective about it... These are also part of our heritage like Rashtrapati bhawan, the old Parliament house, Connaught place and so many places. These so called "monuments" help the present and future generations of what happened hundreds of years back not to glorify the evils of the past. It is a reminder not a gratification element. The narrator's undertone could make the viewer build a kind of hatred NOT to the past but to the present English, building a sense of entitlement or repatriation of what happened in the past. Universities and Colleges should be giving such or similar issues as Projects and Assignments to Students.If this happens in every State , we might be able to cover greater ground and get rid of Colonial goo which seems so sticky!
