Explore the complexities of tipping culture in this video, where frustrations are voiced alongside a new rule: "If tipping with cash wouldn't occur, don't feel obligated to tip on a card." During the holiday season, a routine purchase of seven $10 Starbucks gift cards for teachers unveiled an unexpected question: should a tip be left for simply scanning gift cards? Witness a critical examination of tipping norms and the decision to abstain from customary tipping practices in certain transactions. Join the discussion on the evolving landscape of consumer ethics and social norms. #TippingCulture #NoTipping #GiftCardTipping #SocialNorms #PersonalFinance #StarbucksTipping #ConsumerRights #EthicalConsumerism

I am going to be honest with you, the kid that was holding the machine in front of you didn't care at all if you tipped or not.

Crazy how companies expect customers to pay their employees wages

As a result of this people are now less likely to tip well in the places they should. Like sitting down at a restaurant.

this is not tipping anymore, this is extortion. when they ask you if u want to leave a tip, what they really mean is:- you either gave us money or we will spit on your drink/food. , and what pisses me off is when multi-billion dollar companies are telling me (the consumer) that I am a cheap Bastard if I don't tip. it's not like they can raise their salary or anything.

Tipping should be a bonus from a l8ving wage. Not against, but rather against any bad base wage.

In the US they call it tipping! Where I'm from they call it begging!

This feature was added by the companies who sell the payment transaction software. They get paid per transaction and that counts as an additional transaction meaning more kickback to that company. Don’t get me wrong the large cooperations do this so they can boost their hourly pay too for hiring additional help by averaging it out to no cost to them.

If you have to turn your iPad around to ask for a tip you’re not getting one. I only tip waiters and waitress that are actually handling my food. If it were up to me I would tip the chefs instead.

I never realized how many people have such a hard time not tipping! It's easy, just don't do it!

Bro that is the standard screen, they're not gonna go through customizing every single possible scenario where a tip wouldn't be warranted. Just don't tip and move on.

Tipping seems crazy to Australians. It’s a joke I would never tip.

I don't think they expected you to tip for the gift cards. I'm guessing the machine just always asks for a tip, and they couldn't stop it from asking.
