R side the thrift stores all got greedy when people started thrifting and forgot the stuff was donated to them in the first place. They can barely be called “ thrift” stores anymore and have taken the fun out of it. They charge many times more than the item cost to go buy new. I see stuff from the dollar store with $3-$4 dollar price tags. Often there will be the tag still on it from the store and they want twice as much now that it’s been used and beaten up? I have a ton to donate from some model homes right now and I don’t even want to, I’d rather put it outside with a free sign.

Legit my friend used to work at Goodwill and she and I were horrified to find out that when a product isn't sold they actually destroy it and trash it. Both of us grew up thinking that Goodwill actually donated things to homeless shelters when it was not bought, and that they were helping the community with the money they were getting from people dropping off their items, and some of those items are actually pretty expensive. So I see Goodwill as a freaking scam, it's better to just put your things out on the curb, or put it on Facebook marketplace,etc you can make some money yourself.
