honestly OP kinda sounds like the AH. Her friend tried to politely decline a trip, and OP kept pushing her. So the friend finally said basically the truth. Pictures of partying and traveling can easily get you fired from a higher up position. OP seems jealous being so quick to call out her privilege. It also takes considerable work to get a masters degree.

Tbh they both sound bad. The op sounds jealous and the friend seem like their judgeing op. But ya also have to think on the fect that this story is from the op perspective. We might be missing details and stuff. But saying their friend didnt work for anything they have is really ignorant. It takes hard work to get a phd.

They sound like my best friend from grade school and her self proclaimed bestie she met later. (She tried to be friends with me saying since they were besties that I had to be her friend too and tell her all the childhood details 🙄) My best friend is an accountant and doesn't like wild times, both like hiking and exploring etc. She runs a business last I heard. We do bird watching. She climbs mountains in her Jeep. We don't dance with the devil 😂wild woman. We are more quiet book readers and she's rambunctious. She's fun but in small doses. I don't mind a rock climb or random ghost town, but not at 110 mph.

Am I the only one who thinks Op doesn’t sound jealous? I have a friend who has grown up very privileged and can say pretty ignorant things and then gets kinda upset when I call them out. I’m not jealous of it cuz i know that their privilege and them being babied by family will just cause problems for them down the road in the real world. Do I get a little pissed when they act privileged, yes but that is because i don’t want to put up with the behavior that comes with that. I can only correct them calling a normal place “hood” for them seeing a needle in a parking lot yet wanting to live in a big city after they graduate college so many times before I get kinda fed up. So am I jealous? No because while with privilege their is ignorance and ignorance might be bliss, it doesn’t prepare you for the real world unless your like a trust fund baby from the top 1%.

They both were pretty rude but I put OP more in the wrong because the friend tried to just say no thanks to the trip and OP was the one who pushed for a reason. If she had just dropped it nothing would have escalated
