That passive on my solo barb run was goated. Not so great in bg1 since thieves are fairly rare but bg2 and onwards its great. You have the biggest health pool of all classes and that passive 20% phys resist with potential combo with defender flail + hardiness nothing physical can hurt you let alone thieves with toothpicks.

Honestly, enemies being able to backstab from the front is the real dumb thing. You should be able to position around walls/body block to counter getting backstabbed
