It’s probably because I live in area with a high Asian population but hearing someone say they’re uncomfortable getting their hair cut when they’re not curly/wavy is wild to me
Edit: okay thank you guys I thought I was missing something. I asked my aunt about her hair being styled (indigenous/chinese) and she said she never had a problem with stylists when she had long hair

Now this may be a dumb question so bare with me but how is Asian hair different from other ethnicity’s straight hair? I have curly hair so I usually don’t go to a lot of salons where people don’t know curly hair as much. But my hairdresser is white and just so happens to have curly hair too and she knows how to take care of my hair despite us not being the same race. To some extent I thought hair texture like straight, wavy, to curly to some extent isn’t exclusive to race. Why wouldn’t people in America where a lot of people have straight hair not know how to cut straight hair???

We as Americans are a melting pot of culture, you can find so many different types of salons and barbers who have studied their art with a passion and are creating beauty with all kinds of hair textures. All you gotta do is call and ask if they have anyone who is familiar with ___ type hair. I have mixed textures in my hair and am growing it long so I ask if anyone is familiar with cutting textured hair before sitting in their chair. I love how many options for salons I have access to.

As someone who has a very mixed race family😮💨 I understand her struggle. It doesn’t matter if her hair is straight or curly. A lot of stylist disregard what you want all together, don’t give you tips on after care, and cut way too much off. It’s a reasonable fear. And I’m glad you were able to find someone who helped and made you comfortab

Your haircut looked so great afterwards! I love how the hair stylist also gave you tips on how to style and trim your hair at home. I think you totally found a keeper 👍🏼
