Suicide by @renmakesmusic Ren has this feeling of continuing on and walking through life while carrying our grief.The casual nature of how he says “suicide, suicide, suicide” is how many of us carry our grief in the day-to-day. Moving forward beat by beat because we have to, narrating pain, but not actually touching the emotion behind the experience.

Then the bridge hits and it’s a sudden shift in tone, pace and emotion. The driving nature of the song stops and everything slows down and narrows in on the grief.

Ren starts to talk about the details of what actually happened, and it touches the humanity of the experience. Suddenly everything but our pain falls away and all we are left with is the all consuming nature of our grief - the regret, the guilt, the questions, the longing, the loving.

That’s how grief works, we are moving through life and then something tips our mind back to the details of our loss, and BAM it knocks the winds out of us.

Usually, grief catches us by surprise, but this song gives us the ability to access our immense grief intentionally amidst the driving nature of life. And it is a healthy, holy place to mourn.
