The only real problem here is whoever took the paper towel off the stand in the first place and then couldn't manage to move it one foot to the right to put it back where it belonged after they were done.
I mean, in my house I would probably be the problem. If it leaves my hand, it's like it never existed to me. Not only getting a new roll out, but then actually putting it on the stand when she saw it was empty is a total win to me.

I don’t know if I’d call that an observational fail. I literally do this all the time. If it gets low I’ll take the almost out one and put a new one on. Sometimes a big mess needs more than what’s left over and nothings more annoying than running out of towels mid way through an already annoying spill
