Washing Your Cast Iron Pan with Soap Isn’t Going to Ruin the Seasoning! #shorts

Contrary to popular belief, you can wash out your cast iron with soap! WHHAAAAAATTTT?! 🍳🤯

Yes, it’s true. While you shouldn’t be soaking your cast iron pan overnight in a hot tub of soapy water, using a little bit of soap to scrub off stubborn food pieces will not ruin the seasoning you’ve worked so hard to build. I’ve been doing this for the last few months, and it’s honestly freed me to use my cast iron more often. Not having to worry about another cleaning process (especially when summoning the inner strength to wash dishes in the first place is an accomplishment in itself) was a total game changer.

Still don't believe me? Take it up with America's Test Kitchen

As long as you seasoned it well, the soap and water isn’t gonna do anything 👍

I use soap every time I clean my cast iron skillets and the universe still exists.

Just don't do what my husband did and use dawn powerwash with steel wool. He stripped the pan

Whats the point in seasoning a skillet? I like to have my food taste like my current food not my last food.

Why

Jk! I don't even know anything about cast iron skillets. I was just looking up why it needs to be seasoned and YouTube decided to give me videos on how. Nice video though!
