I was visited by Relief Society presidency as a young bride in 1980. They brought me a "welcome to the married ward" gift. It was the book Fascinating Womanhood. The more I read the book the more angry I got. There actually is a chapter on dressing and acting like little girls. Men apparently are attracted to that. Talking in a childish high voice and serving the man of the house at all times. Never win at any game, never talk back and don't ever disagree with a man's decision. I was told many times that my husband represented God and I was to be obedient to him just like we are to God. It was such dysfunctional immature advice to start off a marriage. I burned the book.

I have lost my whole life to this. I’m now out at nearly 50, still married for now but it’s really difficult to renegotiate a relationship that has been that way for 28 years

This explains a lot about my grandmother on my mom's side. She was judgmental and scolding. She feared the world and overcompensated when she was in positions of power such as a mother and any calling she had. She whipped her kids constantly lived in poverty and was divorced several times. My mother inherited a lot of these traits from her. But she always held a temple recommend and allowed her husbands who were temple recommend holders to treat her horribly. My heart breaks for her, and my mother, and seeing the damage of these teachings that this has caused them.

When these Christian nationalists talk about “the good old days” & how we should go back 😂
ugh, sick of hearing the phrase “in BETTER, simpler times…”
No Karen! You couldn’t vote, drive or have your own credit card 🤦🏻
