I concur with his assessment, however I find it too zero sum. Young people speaking less Russian, isn’t a rejection of Russia but more embracing of their own language.

It will remain the Lingua Franca of Central Asia for more generations

China is actually going into central Asia. back then Putin will be wary about Chinese influence but the Ukraine war and their distrust of the west have changed Russians attitude to Chinese involvement in the area.
