The first part actually fits one of my OCs, he has a redemtion arc and joins the good side, but a lot of people still hate and distrust him because of the stuff he did (which he was forced to do), except for the kids. He's great with them and they all love him :)

Villains kids become villains not bc they were abused into it, but bc their parents gave them the love they never had, so for that they stuck with their parents forever.
