This is a legendary warship in the history of my country Latvia too!
There is a little-known WW2 testimony, how in October 1944, this ship stood in the Gulf of Riga, opposite the city of Tukums, where the Red Army was located, blocking the way for the German Army Group "Nord" to escape to the Kurzeme Cauldron.
In a joint Wehrmacht and Kriegsmarine operation, a Russian army group was destroyed, in my city of Tukums and the Wehrmacht escaped from the siege to Kurzeme.
"Prinzs" fired from a distance of 32 kilometers! From land, 8 T6 tanks participated in the operation, Russian losses were said to have been about 50 vehicles, and their wreckage was strewn around the entire city, long after the war.
Our ancestors told us all this when we were little!
