Does more disc grow in there? Do you plug it up with something? Well let me explain, after the disc herniation is removed, the remaining cavity fills with blood ➡️ forms a clot ➡️ becomes scar tissue ➡️ and eventually turns into fibrocartliage-a wannabe disc. Most patients are able to get back to life without issues!!

Save this if you’re considering spine surgery or send it to someone who is.

I have similar question: If the disc has herniated because of a tear or puncture in the disc - part of the nucleus pulposus comes out, right? If the part that came out is removed, what stops the rest of the nucleus pulposus that is still inside the disc from coming out? Doctor, I don't think you explained this. Please do so. I am gathering info for my wife who I believe had a herniated disc and Limbus Vertebrae L4 and L5. .She lives in a rural village in Cotabato Province, Philippines and saw the three orthopedic doctors who are in the nearest big city, Kidapawan City and they don't want to do surgery. Please pray that God, Jesus, heal her or open a doctor for her to an experienced Orthopedic or Neurosurgeon who had been Fellowship trained in Spine Surgery.

I was told that the vertebrae (L4-L5) would weld together in time: that was nearly 50 years ago (which means correspondingly older techniques). This seems to be what happened, that is, there is less mobility at that point. This did not prevent me from practicing yoga for many years: I recommend hatha yoga in particular, not the sporty stuff that passes for yoga nowadays..
