So true. I was a otr driver for 10 years when I was in. my 30's. Watching the white line go be on the same interstates, touring the parking lots of warehouses, no meaningful human contact, all this wears on you. Lost my marriage, my kids moved in w a different father, that was the end for me. Now that I'm an old curmudgeon and find most people and social circumstances tiresome and annoying, I sometimes think of going back out on the road again. Kudos to Alex for pointing out that if you get into this career it is a definite mental challenge, probably the leading cause of driver turnover.

I got out of trucking 10 years ago, I got burnt out. I said I had enough. Today I do chauffeur driving, getting paid to drive sweet rides, I have a work-life balance now.

Why not think of doing local work? I drive for a hazmat company here in Los Angeles and my starting pay gets me to 100k a year. First year driving.

Being alone is the entire point. If you want family and friends then you are in the wrong line of work. And that’s ok. It’s not for everyone. I love being alone. Family never was right for me.

We get what we focus on brother. All of us spend lots of time in our head be sure it’s a nice place to be. Prayer, connecting to God has always helped me. Stay active with Jesus and life will be a ton better. This message is important to recognize but our minds need to be renewed. That’s where the Holy Bible comes in. God bless, no stress.

My dad retired from being a truck driver all his life. I respect this job more than most. The other way of looking at it is: “do i have much to loose anyway?”

I'm a refer driver straight truck been doing it for 13 years now for a milk company some seasons are hard some easy but over the years just doesn't seem to be worth it anymore I'm looking to change fields pay is good for what I do but if your looking to grow and make really good money 30 dollars and hour doesn't cut it now stay safe out there ppl

Trucking is like any other job: anybody can do it, not everybody should do it. I've worked other jobs before and this is by far the best one. Doesn't pay as much as my last job, but at least I get to work at my own pace, see the country for free, and meet new people everyday. Rather do this then go back to a regular job.
