Sometimes whale watching trips can be a bust. That was not the case with this excursion out of Monterey Bay when 3 humpback whales paid a visit to the boat. Courtesy: Monterey Bay Whale Watch. (instagram.com/monterey_bay_whale_watch/). Sept. 6, 2022.

After they were hunted close to extinction it is wonderful to see that they get this close to humans Lets not betray this closeness

Oh that was truly amazing! So gentle. And as deserving of their place on this Earth as we are.

We had a similar experience about 30 miles off the coast of Honolulu, you could see Molokai in the distance. We did a large circle for at least an hour just watching. There were a couple calves too ... After they sorta just drifted on, disappeared, we all jumped in and went swimming for a bit ... It was surreal!

He's probably asking what the hell is going on with the planet and why is the food chain so screwed up. It's a probably a Happy Feet moment, when they're dancing for the humans.

humpbacks are the most beautiful whales. And fortunately, they tend to be friendly to us. We're are lucky they come to boats in a friendly way, for whatever reason. Even if they are just curious as we are. Magnificent.
