First, the assertion that not believing in God is a moral issue is a common one among theists, but it’s fundamentally flawed. Morality doesn’t hinge on belief in a deity; it’s rooted in our shared human experiences, empathy, and the consequences of our actions. Many secular moral frameworks exist that don’t require a belief in God, and they offer robust ethical systems based on reason, compassion, and societal well-being.

Saying that intellectuals 'suppress the truth' about their beliefs sounds more like a projection than a genuine observation. It’s not that people are running from God; rather, many are simply exploring a worldview that aligns with evidence and reason. The idea that skepticism equates to a moral failing or a denial of truth is a way to dismiss valid questions and doubts.

It’s not hard for me to comprehend the comfort that belief in God provides for many people. However, it’s essential to recognize that belief is personal and subjective. I don't need to believe in a god to find meaning or value in life. Our understanding of morality and existence can be just as profound without the need for divine endorsement.

So, let’s stop framing disbelief as a moral issue and start appreciating the diverse perspectives that exist. Atheists aren’t running from anything; many of us are simply choosing to seek truth in a different way.
