I start my 84 that’s an auto in drive sometimes. It’ll start in any gear, park, drive, reverse, neutral, 1st etc.

That's how to START a manual not DRIVE a manual. Why so many shakes of the stick? It's NOT JUST like an automatic. And it's not advisable to rev up right at start up.🤦♂

Might wanna give it a few more shakes. Always wanna make sure you’re in neutral. I’ve found that 100 seems to be a good number of shakes
