Every senior citizen (65-80 years old) I've known that has either broken their hip & required surgery or has undergone hip replacement surgery, died within a year of that surgery.
Do you think it's anecdotal, or is their a correlation of some sort?I thought it might have been something to do with anaesthesia and/or the restricted mobility post-op, but, I've known other seniors in the same age range that underwent complex heart surgery and they survived, on average, 5 years post-op

I've had my left hip replaced after a head on collision. I also broke my left femur and have a sti😢eel rod holding it together. I'm alwàys in pain. I also crushed my left elbow and broke radius and it's bestie, ulna, it got infected because the nursing home they had me doing recovery at decided I didn't need the staples out because they saw metal and puss. I bailed on my own. And the Dr who did my surgery said if I hadn't stood up for my self , the plate would of continued to migrate out, I would probably went into sepsis and died

I received half this procedure in early 2002. I got the ball part that extends into the femur, as well as a plate and screws in my femur. I was told it would be good for "maybe 10 years." It's been over 20 years and it has never bothered me a bit except for a bit of minor pain when it is going to rain or snow. I attribute that to the sudden change in barometric pressure, but that's only a guess.
BTW, it was weeks before I could walk without crutches and I was in the hospital for a month.
