They showed in a video that people whose job is to look at resumes spend less than 10 seconds reading one. 500 words or more requires more than 10 seconds.

We keep hearing that columns aren't ATS friendly yet suddenly they are if made in Word using the column feature? That doesn't make sense especially if the ATS reads top to bottom, left to right.

Its incredibly gross how much control random companies have over my life.
Like i buy everything from corporations. Even my ELECTRICITY.
AND they control whether or not i even have meals.

As a professional who's been working as a Career counselor on the side, i can wholeheartedly say this is only valid for American applicants. Most other countries would prioritize a CV that looks good first, then they move to look at the details.
Also, not all companies use an ATS, which is specially true if you're from a developing country.

My first resume ( at a real job lol ) was 1 page long I used a resume template from my local library and it had almost nothing on it that was useful to the job I was trying to get. It is all about persistents I showed up just about every day after work to the company I was trying to get hired at and i ended up getting the job started out as an engineering tech and worked there until I was able to start up my own buisness

Lol shirtless resume is just…..completely un self aware……or maybe i didnt get that job at in-and-out cause i didnt give them my resume with a nice pic of my happy trail..lol

I was always taught to keep resumes short and simple because if they cant read it in 1 minute then they likely wont take the time to finish reading it unless your a top candidate. From my experience a shorter and to the point resume works better
