I was raised with American style, but once you get the hang of it, Continental works so much better, and it makes things much more quiet at the table.

Eh…it’s whatever you’re comfortable with. I’m just trying to not spill my food in my lap.

My mom was so good about raising me with good table etiquette and was not impressed when I switched to continental as an adult. Glad to know both thanks to my mother and to you, Myka!

Continental looks more elegant, instead of the shuffling of cuttlery. 😊
Love your videos Myka, all the way from Australia 🇦🇺

Continental - Because the American style requires switching utensils between bites, which I find annoying.

I eat American style as that is how I was raised. Continental seems more efficient though.

Is it considered I'll-mannered to do both within the same meal?

I was raised with American but, after learning continental in my 20s, I always eat in the continental style now.

I prefer American style. It builds in a pause between cutting the food and putting it in your mouth. I

I honestly thought the 'American' way was only using the fork... using its edge to cut, then jab and eat. I've seen so many breakfast diners where the knife is still flat on the table, never been used.

My left hand's coordination is just atrocious at best, If I don't switch my fork to my right hand I miss my mouth and make a mess.

Which one is the right? Is it just depends on where you are? In England should you eat Continental style? In America should you eat American

I’m American but we were raised to eat continental as it makes you eat slightly slower and is much quieter and takes up less room as there’s less swit ch ing around awkwardly

I was raised, American style, then went to a school with many international students and learned continental style which I prefer. However, times up works better for some foods.
Which style do you prefer?

I am Canadian and use the continental method as that is what I learned from my Portuguese parents. I did not see the American method until I was a teenager dining out with a Canadian friend. Both methods can be found in Canada but it depends on region and what one has learned. I prefer the continental because it is efficient, simple, and there is less arm/hand movement.
