It was so fun! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it, too. The involuntary, maniacal giggling the end inspires really puts into perspective that more comedians should become horror directors. I'd be into hearing more of your spoiler-oriented thoughts on the structure, the tropes and the antagonists (Somewhere Minnie and Roman are cackling).

I loved it!! Like you said it was original, funny when it knew it was being a lot and still scary! I was nervous about the gore-level going in after seeing the trailers but it was bearable, and the few times it wasn't bearable I was able to look away without missing plot. So glad to hear so many people are also enjoying it, this is the end of summer, spooky-season is around the corner movie I needed🎉

This movie went full over the top at just the right moments Zach Creger understands that, after all that tension and dread and grief, the audience needed a blow out ending The kid's revenge/chase scene was gory and scary but mostly knock out FUNNY. Itt was shot and edited for maximum comedic effect. The audience left on a high. (With less comedy, the last action sequence of Sinners had a similar effect.)
I love dour gloomy, slow burn, depressing (?) horror but it was a relief to see a movie that could leave me with a smile as well as a shudder.

I (40 yrs old) went with my parents (both 70 years old) and we all really enjoyed it! My parents were raving about it as soon as the lights came up. It took a bit more pondering and discussion on my end but I ended up really liking it as well. That’s one of the most fun things about horror: the dialogue it opens up where everyone shares their thoughts and theories! 💜

Went to see it today and had a lot of fun. Definitely would vote for seeing it in cinema if you can to hear other people’s reactions! 😂
Agree with all your comments here (including the going in blind!) and just want a shout out to the camera work here: some really nice shots, playing with what can / cannot be seen, and some rather excellent POV sequences!

The poster literally says the children vanished last night "and never came back." Semantically that doesn't even make sense. The film begins with the child narrator saying that the children disappeared and never came back. SPOILER ALERT: All the children come back at the end of the film. This movie insulted my intelligence in many ways. Justine is a target but when she comes to the house alone she's not abducted. Then Paul, the policeman, comes to the house and is immediately abducted and weaponized. Many of the parts that were supposed to be scary made the audience I saw it with laugh out loud. Almost all of the actors who were originally approached to appear in this film turned it down. The original ending was changed after a test audience said it sucked. Please don't take this personally, but this was not a good film by any metric.
