I had an oven that used to do that, it's supposed to be green, not red. My research told me that the only way to fix it is to buy a new house and move the oven there. It has something to do with the dyes they use to make sure your electricity is ran properly through the house

I researched that you must pour pickle juice on it, the acidity from the pickles will fix that problem quickly

I guess a gas stove shouldn’t have flames either right ?

Looks like it could use some insulation, try wrapping a bunch of paper towels around it or even an old sweater or something

Have you tried turning it off and back on?

Better throw some Dino nuggets in there to test it out.

My oven doesn't do that, it has a flame in the bottom.

I think it's time to change the Flux capacitor in it... they go bad after a couple years..

There are two screws that hold the element in. Take those two screws out and pull it, it doesn't take much. Grab your multi meter out and check resistance, (the upside down horseshoe setting). Report the results of the test for diagnosis.

It's doing as it should but if you ever need to test it turn it on and spray cooking oil directly on it. Works like a deep fryer so you want to make sure the oil gets plenty hot.

Ovens like that need a good spray of water on them to keep them from over heating like that.

I'm pretty sure the saying goes "if it's red, you're dead"

My dad used to live in a apartment and he had a really old stove ( like 1980’s or early 90’s ) and his element always got red hot like that, i believe it’s fine, as long as it’s not raking out, or anything like that, plus too, if you get anything hot enough it I’ll emit light like heading steel until it’s red hot. So i believe your fine.

That’s a wood stove, throw a few pieces of maple of something in there before you use it. It takes about an hour to get to temperature and don’t worry, smoke is normal in these kinds of stoves
