Correction - by "secret deal" he should say ILLEGAL deal, as Congress had specifically passed law to prevent any such deals after Iran took US hostages in 1980.
Reagan broke the law and used the money to fund weapons for Contra "rebels". The Contra turned out to be death squads that raped and murdered entire villages and killed anyone that disagreed with them.
Reagan lied before Congress and claimed he "couldn't remember" if he'd ordered anything.
The few people that were convicted- like Oliver North- were pardoned by the outgoing administration.
A dark, treasonous time in the US
OH, and, as it turns out, had just Iran ordered their proxy terror group to bomb the US Marines barracks- The attack killed 307 people: 241 U.S. and 58 French military personnel, six civilians, and two attackers.
That's the people Reagan sold more weapons to.
